Pernah tak tengah jalan dengan kawan kamu, tiba-tiba dia cakap something yang sungguh annoying like:

"Aku rasa mamat hensem tu tengah usha aku la"

Ataupun kawan kamu itu tanpa segan silu upload almost 1000 of self-taken pictures kat Facebook konon-konon Tyra Bank akan view gambar-gambar tu & pick dia untuk contestant America's Next Top Model Season 14.Ceh.

Walaupun kamu cuma tersengih & angguk-angguk saja (sebab kamu hipokrit nak jaga hati kawan), tapi dalam hati mesti rasa macam nak back-hand ja bila dengar self-appraisal story macam tu,kan?Pastu bukan sekali je dia cerita kisah sama. Urghhh....bosannyaaaa

BTW, remember last time I wrote about 'Attention seeker'? (click here if you missed the story). This time I'm going to write about Narcissistic. For those who are not familiar with the term 'Narcissistic', let me brief you about the meaning.

Narcissistic derived from the story of Narcissist in the Aesop Fables, about a man who fell in love with himself. Yelah, back then, there was no mirror,kan. Masa tengah jalan-jalan, Narcissist perasan ada satu wajah yang amat kacak atas permukaan air telaga. He was very impressed and thought that the person he saw on the water surface was good-looking & charming. The sadistic part was; Narcissist suka gila kat orang yang dia tengok atas permukaan air tu and tried to get that person. It was a heart-wrenching ending, where Narcissist was finally drowned and died. Dear Narcissist, kasihannya kamu *sob sob*

Oh, back to the story of kawan kamu tadi. I guess, kawan kamu might suffer from Narcissistic disorder kot. Narcissistic is a 4th type of Personality disorder. It is a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in behaviour or fantasy), need for admiration and lack of empathy. Usually it begins in the early childhood. So, lets have a look at the contexts:

1. Has a grandiose sense of self importance

Contohnya, kamu cuma ketua kelas saja. Tapi kamu rasa jawatan kamu sama penting macam Dekan Fakulti. Then you expect whatever changes need to be done in the Faculty must be informed to you first.

2. Preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success

Even though tu baru first time kamu pass paper Maths, kamu expect TV3, RTM & Astro Awani harus interview kamu, sama macam meka interview adik Adi Putra, the Math prodigy or perhaps Sufiah Yusuf (oops!). You think you deserve the same attention. Hishhh. Perasan sungguh.

3.Believes self is special and unique

Kamu hang out sekitar KL sambil pakai T-shirt "I'm not weird, I'm unique". Kat desktop background kamu set the same words "I'm not weird, I'm unique". Kat profile picture Facebook pon kamu letak caption yang sama "I'm not weird, I'm unique". Do you think people have the same thought that you're unique?

4.Requires excessive admiration

Kamu rasa stress gila kalau pergi konsert Gempak Selebriti Astro, orang tak pandang kamu. Padahal dah habis 5 botol bedak kamu sapu kat muka & 2 batang gincu kamu conteng kat bibir. Orang asyik kejar Lisa Surihani walaupun kamu rasa kamu lagi hot. Lepas tu kamu start buat psiko golek-golek kat situ sampai orang tengok kamu. Puas hati?

5.Has a sense of entitlement

This one needs no elaboration kot. Boleh fikir sendiri.

6.Interpersonally exploitative

Kamu sanggup buat apa je asalkan orang suma sedar kepentingan kamu kat situ. Fuh, nie macam sinonim dengan watak mak tiri dalam sinetron Bawang Putih Bawang Merah ja,kan?Dengan sihir berbagai. Unfortunately, in reality there's no pari-pari. Huhu.

8.Often envious of others

Biasalah tu, dah rasa diri hebat, mestilah kamu sakit hati kalau ada orang yang lagi hebat.

9.Shows arrogant, haughty behaviours or attitudes

Kamu susah betul nak senyum walaupun Nabi Muhammad pesan senyum itu sedekah. Kamu nak orang gerun tengok kamu. Kamu rasa kalau setiap kali kamu lalu, orang buat tabik hormat, tu baru nampak cool.Hmmm...freak gila!

Having said all these, try to reflect ourselves whether we got this kind of disorder or not. Maybe you have at least one or two of the characteristics mentioned (but you refuse to admit). Biasalah, siapa la yang nak mengaku ada personality disorder,kan? Hoho. It's important to love yourself (if you didn't love yourself, who else will love you,kan?). But make sure won't be too much like Narcissist, okay?Renung-renungkan dan selamat beramal!
